MS Silverlight to light up the Web
Microsoft Silverlight (code-named Windows Presentation Foundation/Everywhere or WPF/E) is a proprietary dual-platform XAML-based WPF technology for animations, vector graphics, and video playback. The latest release is version 1.0 beta & 1.1 alpha and is available on the official site to various Microsoft and Apple operating systems including Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X. Similar to Adobe Flash, the Silverlight runtime is available as a plugin for Internet Explorer 6 and 7, Mozilla Firefox, and Apple Safari. Opera is not supported in the current releases but will be supported with future builds.[1] There is no support for Linux or other platforms in the current Beta (April 2007). Additional platforms are still being considered.[2] An early version 1.1 alpha has also been made available which adds integration with the .NET CLR.
